Block 7 /Houses of Hawk Run Hollow is finished, yay!!!

I've been fighting a head and chest cold all week. It has given me lots of down time to spend stitching. I will start to stitch block 8 for the rest of tonight and tomorrow, then I put it down for awhile. Maybe I will pull out Witches Hollow, we'll see what the mood is

A Token of Friendship freebie by Lori of Notforgotten Farms

I stitched this little baby up in a few short hours and even finished it into a pincushion

I stitched it on 35 Mocha w/Belle Soie threads, Vanilla Pudding and Fresh Raspberies, filled with crushed walnuts. The backing fabric is shown in the next photo

I plan on giving this away

Oh! It will look different. I messed the design up bad. I placed the F in the wrong place and before I caught it, I had most of Friendship stitched. So... I added the hearts on the left of the design.

Good Evening!!

Anna and I spent the day on Thursday in Wisconsin visiting three needleshops
The first one was Country Sampler in Spring Green

We had lunch at Rookies

Then is was on to Mt Horeb to Witchery Stitchery

See the sampler on the lupin linen, Anna kitted it up. It was the first thing that caught my eye
I can't remember the name, but the designer is Rosewood Manor

Then back to madison to visit Lynn's of Madison

I forgot to take pictures there.

Each needleshop was terrific in it's own way, different charts and fibers

This is the stash I picked up

40ct lt vintage examplar for Christmas Garden (maybe, having second thoughts) w/ CC threads, charcoal linen for Colonial Garden and two packages of chenille

Dead Man's Chess

Sledding in Connecticut, Proverbs 31:13 and Oh Christmas Tree, a trade I did with Cathy(pumpkin patch) for Sergei that got tossed in there

It was a fun day.

Road Trip Minnesota

A short road trip took us this past weekend to Bloomington, Mn.

to the..

I uploaded more photo's of the inside of the mall, but they are coming out sideways, urgh!!!

We visited a Cabela's store,

Look at these silly girls, Yes! they are with me

I have no idea who that man is, he just whipped around the corner to get in the snap

Then we headed to...

OMGosh! this store has the most models I have ever seen in a store. And all the accessories for your stitching needs, its so awesome.
I did get a few things...

Four charts were fifty cents with green stitckers, 30ct confederate Gray and 32ct pecan butter linen, two charts from With Thy Needle & Thread.

I did see two OOP BBD Loose Feathers there, they were #2 With My Needle and #4 Pumpkin Blossom Needle Case, so if you are looking for them you better make a call fast.

Here's an update of Molly that I started on New Years Day

It sounds like we have a major snow storm coming our way to northern Illinois tomorrow, stitch time is all I'm thinking of, lol

They are saying 4-6 inches, yay!!!

I even got to use the bells I rusted, yipppeeee!!

That inspired to finish framing Greetings by Blackbird Designs

I love how it came out. The frame was bought at a goodwill store, it fit perfect, Score!!!!!

Yesterday I went to The Inspired Needle found Here for the Stitch-in

I picked up two framed pieces

I was excited to get them posted, that today was a gloomy day, so the photo's are really bad and don't show the beauty. They always look better in person anyway

Additional stash I aquired

I don't like how Homespun Elegance package thier charts, now in a thin plastic that is sealed, so when you open it, you ruin the plactic. How do you keep the pages together? besides using your own expensive zip lock.

Linda borrowed me the Sleigh Bird chart, so when I returned it to her yesterday, I gifted this back for a Thank You

Now for the expecting news....

This is DD Heather and her hubby and Brianna

(photo taken last week at Brianna's daycare Christmas program at the hospital, where heather is an RN)

Brianna'a going to have a baby brother or sister
So that makes me Grandma for a third time.
With all the trouble Heather had with Brianna being 10 weeks early and 2.9 lbs. Both their lives being in danger. She is considered high risk, please say a prayer for her and this baby. She has had several blood test to watch (I think) her count, she has a scheduled ultrasound in the middle of Jan.

I know this is such a busy time of year. Even I have fallen behind in commenting.

And here is my sweet little bunny, I hope he doesn't hop of my fabric.

Not sure if I'm liking his black eye, looks kinda weird to me. I stitched him in WDW Mocha. I didn't care for the so called CC, it was blue.

I'm planning on picking up two framed pieces tomorrow from The Inspired Needle, can't wait!!

It's a gloomy rainy day here in northern Illinois

I changed the color of the boys overalls, I didn't care to dress him in pink, so I found a blue that looks alot better on him

Here's my attempt to rust bells and pins

for December Word Play by Brenda Gervais or any other finish

I put them in bleach for 2 days then cider vinegar and salt for 2 days. I put them in the sun with what little we had. They were still shiney, what the heck!!!! So then I put them back in cider vinegar and salt for another day and put them on a paper towel as they dried they rusted a little. Ebay! here I come, lol

I took advice and looked for cheaper ones at the dollar store, no luck finding bells.

Does anyone know what their new start will be for New Years day?

I ususally have something picked out and kitted already, but not this year. I have no clue what I want to start. I looked through my stash and nothing calls my name. Are there any SALs?

Happy Saturday!!!

I went to www.inspiredneedle.com last Sunday to see the gals and pick up my Miss Mary Mack by La D Da. I love it. Cathy did a fabulous job framing it. I took two more to be framed, I'm so excited to get them back.

A few things were purchased...

Brenda surprised with a fantastic LHN ornament.

I was over the moon with it. I so admire Brenda's stitching and now to cherish something she made is outta this world, Thank You! my dear friend

I finially got around this week to frame a Primitive Needle Design, thats been stitched for quite awhile now.

I stitched and finished this little gem, Little By Little titled "Sleigh Bird"

I put this one away because I don't feel like filling in the rest of the reindeer that I have already started. I love the kids that are behind Santa, too cute!! I filled in his face last night, so know he's watching me to get it finished no less

I waited this morning to get a better color of the linen

Count Me Inspired retreat/part 3

Cathy had a project for us on Friday night

Our fearless shop owner showing us the instructions to make the finish product.

It was so fun and so easy, yummy too, as cathy made us eat our ice cream from the containers to use, lol

Then there was a fun exchange, if you wanted to partcipate. We all drew numbers and picked out the wrapped up exchange, when we were done, we showed off what we received.

I was over the moon with this little scissor FOB and the scissors come with it, how cool is that?!! Adana stitched this fabulous exchange, Thanks so much Adana and it was nice meeting you.

Brenda walked away with my exchange it was a little pin cushion from Casting a Spell by Blackbird Designs. I don't have a snap, so you will have to hop on over to her post to see it.

Saturday night as we were all feasting, Cathy sneaked this box tote on our table where we were stitching. It is fantastic and I LOVE it

minus Karin and Katrina, there was a family emergency and I do hope everything is all well

This is the stash shopping I did, a little bit of something from everywhere

I didn't do much stitching myself, a little on ABC Halloween and then I started Winter Wonderland

Progress was made

It was a beautiful weekend to have for the retreat in a quaint little town

I met many wonderful stitchers and hope we can all do this again real soon. Once a year is just not enough to have so much fun and excitement.

Count Me Inspired retreat/ part 1

Haylo!

I can't believe it's Wednesday already, anywhoo, here is a recap of this past weekends event.
Anna and I started out Thursday morning. We drove to Plainwell, Michigan to http://www.stitchingbitsandbobs.com/ As you can see we had the whole store to ourselves
That night we stayed in Benton Harbor, that was about half way to La Porte to meet the gals.

Friday morning we met the girls at http://www.houseofstitches.com/

The store was jam packed with stitchers, even though the next snaps don't look that way There's Karin, Brenda and Jayne

Then it was off to Shipshewana, Indiana to the Farmstead Inn

Cathy did an excellent job putting it all together.

She had a little boutique, so we could shop, or if we needed something that we didn't bring

Surprise in my mail today

Alot of people know I have a stitcher's Bible that I carry with me when I go stash shopping

My first one was a big one and then I started a smaller one. They both have lots of scribbling of the list I need for this and that stitching. I love the bigger one because it is flatter and easier not to lose.

I stitched a freebie of Mindi's and she sent out a little package.

She sewed a cover for a notebook, a perfect stitcher's Bible for me. Now I have to find the time to combine the two notebooks together in this one, Cool Beans!!!

This was also in the pkg. a little orange bag containing Altoids, Avon lip balm, some kleenex and two halloween pencils.

I forgot to mention a few post ago, I deleted my facebook, so many of you have lost a friend, it was me

I can't wait for the weekend!!! It's the Inspired_Needle retreat in Shipshewana, In.

Anna and I are leaving Thursday morning and staying in LaPorte, In. so we can meet some of the gals at House_of_Stitches at 10am on Friday. It will be too much traffic to fight going thru Chicago from Rockford early Friday morning. You won't get another post out of me until next week and then it will be a retreat post, yay!!!!

Lots of progress made on Halloween Rules this week

I am so happy to have the BBD Casting a Spell and the box,
now to get the linen and maybe a couple GA threads

I need some help here..

I am torn between two designs, which one would you like to see me start stitching next??

I am kinda leaning toward the Winter Wonderland, since that season is coming up really, really fast
But then again I love the PS and have that kitted up longer

I captured this little sweetie, it's not as dark as it appears in the background

I think I may have spooked him, the hummingbird would not feed, when I had the camera in hand

Hello! fellow stitchy peeps

I don't care how I finished it, now what to do??

GD Brianna is always going into my sewing room and picks out a little finished pillow to lay on.
I rememebered I stitched a design for Heather (her mom) when she was her age or probably younger.
I dug deep into a tote and found it, ironed it, picked out a backing material and sewed it up for her to take home

She loves it so much, she even took it to daycare for show & tell.

I don't have a clue to the design or designer, but I may still have the booklet somewhere, lol

I don't think you can even find aida like that anymore, can you?

This last weekend was Homecoming

Anna and I finished our boxes from Blackbird Designs
She came to my house on Sunday

We painted and put them together in the morning. They are not all the way finished here, because we took a break to the stitch-in at www.inspiredneedle.com.

The patterns are out of the Stitcher's Journey booklet

And here is my box all finished

On the way home we stopped by the Chicago Outlet Mall. We made a bee line to the Vera Bradley store. Anna come out of the store with this bag and accessories. I have no clue what the pattern is called. I love how the green and purple pop with the black background.

Sunday will be another Funday. Anna is planning a trip down to finish off our BBD boxes and then we will take a road trip to Lemont to the Inspired Needle stitch -in. The retreat is getting close and I can't wait for my 1st one ever, I can't even imagine... maybe a little, only from seeing pics and stories from other bloggers.

Hello!

The vacation stitching is going great so far
I started and finished The Tulip House by Blackbird Designs from A Stitcher's Journal
I have to stitch the pincushion companion, then Anna and I can finish our boxes together.
That is another finishing day we have planned in the near future.
Many may have noticed that my bird is dark.
A bad habit I have...
to change the color of light colored blackbirds, every single time I stitch one

To my great surprise I received this issue in the mail, I thought my subscription ran out, just because I kept getting those darn renewal notices

The sock monkey is my favorite by far. Seeing I am from Rockford, where the little fellow is from

I have made good head way on him.
I also finished one of the Halloween designs, but for some odd reason they are not on my computer.

First of all let me Thank You all for the warm welcome comments to Anna's new blog.
Many of you know she came over yesterday to stitch and finish
She arrived at 9am, of course I was on the computer. We got her started with Google reader, then came her blog, so now she is set up. If you haven't already been there, hop on over and check her out.
We finished three things by the time we got going

Anna's BBD stocking, her folding easel, and my basket topper

There were lots of giggles, trying to get a snap of us together

We finally figured out how to put in on the shelf and get a half way decent pic

House #6 is going to be a brut with the block being stitched solid, yay!

I had alot of emails about the crushed walnut that I use in my pinkeeps.

I am sorry if I missed a response to anyone.

I buy it at the pet store in the bird dept. The bag last a long, long time.

It keeps your needles sharp and clean

I keep the bag in the deep freeze to kill the eggs or worms or whatever

I have never seen or had a problem with it, but have heard of others who have.

Well, I better scoot.

Anna (no blog) is coming from Madison to stitch and do some finishing tomorrow with me, yay!

Howdy! again so soon

I loved stitching this little freebie up and it went so fast,
just what I needed in this heat wave

Brandy, Mulberry, Burnt Orange, Avocado, Apple Cider, Garden Gate and Black Crow
on scrap piece 40ct linen that I coffee dyed last night and then made a pin pillow with walnut chips. Yes! I did my chores first thing this morning before I started my sewing machine

And then I got this in the mail from Brenda (no blog) we have been talking for awhile and send each other things. She seen I had started Halloween Rules and came across this and knew it was me.

I think it is one of the most prettiest I have ever stitched

DD Heather graduated college, Class of 2011, Associate Degree in Nursing

She had a recognition program in the morning for the presentation of pins. She received one for nursing and one for the Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society. We are so very proud of her. In the class of about 40, Heather was the only one working full time and schooling full time, plus with a family. Thank Goodness!! she has a fine husband that supported her.

She works at a hospital in the PICU, in June she is going to the cardiac unit.

I am missing the stitch in at Inspired Needle tomorrow due to gas prices :(

Here is a peek into my stitching room

Someone and I can't recall right now, ask me what do I do with my finished stitching that has to be framed or finished finished. This is how I keep my pieces

I hang about 7 or 8 give or take to a snap or clip hanger and display them on my white shelves which just happen to have holes on the corners, perfect! you can kind of see in my first photo

How do you store your stitchy pieces??

I have a little more stitched on Witches Hollow then this, I took this pic last week, having good intentions to posting before this.

In this next snaps are pictures of my new grandpuppy. I met Remington on Easter Day at my house with my son's family. Daltons perfect playmate, you should see the two of them, 9 month old boy and 7 week puppy, I need to get some photos and share soon

Saturday was the GTG at Welcome_Stitchery in Crystal lake, IL.

There was 19 of us for lunch, it was a fun day.

Meari drove 1/2 hr to my house to ride with me, yay!

I stopped by the Aurora Outlet Mall before stitching with the ladies yesterday. The Vera Bradley store was heaven.
I took my camera, but when I took it out to take photo's, the battery was DEAD.

I found lots and lots of beautiful things and decided on the Villager Purple Punch, it was 72.00, the outlet price was 45.00.

I plan on going back at the end of the week to take Kellie shopping and to pick up a matching accessory.

I finished stitching Thirteen Owls this morning

stitched on 40ct Purely Primitive linen w/ Crescent Color floss

I found this next one at a second hand store and knew she was going home with me.

I took it out of the dingy frame. I'm not sure what I will do with it,

any ideas??

It's looks old, but it's not stitched on Aida, evenweave, I think

If you look closely, you might be able to tell the stitches go different ways with each colored thread, never seen that done before. Despite that I think it is a neat little piece.

Next up is a couple of charts that Cathy from www.inspiredneedle.com sent to me this week, after she got the order shipped in from France

I was invited to spend a day of stitching on Sunday at the http://www.inspiredneedle.com/ with blogging friend Laura. She is such a sweetie and all the ladies gave me a warm welcome. It was my very first time that I ever stitched with anyone and it won't be my last time, it was so fun and inspiring, I really can't explain it!

I preordered the Blackbirds A Stitchers Journey, she has it for a really good price. I knew I had to have it when I heard it was a collection of their class and retreats projects. And if your a scissors freak, OMGosh!! she has alot and some very unique ones at that, go check it out

I am pretty sure the buttons won the vote.
But Thanks to Cathey (aka Pumpkin) and AFWife, I changed it. I went to Lynn's of Madison
this weekend and picked out the snowflake buttons, then I stitched a couple of smyrna's
I was going to make a pillow this morning, but I need matching material, that is not in my tote of fabrics. How's it look now??

While I was at Lynn's on Saturday with Anna (no blog) (waving at ya) I picked out some fabrics to go with already had charts in my stash. I started 13 Owls and stitched all day watching the football games.

The instructions are 1 floss over 1 linen thread, I choose the 1 floss over 2 linen thread, do you blame me??!!

I have a really dumb question...

How do you know when your needle is wore out and you need to throw it out and start with a new fresh one??

Do you use only a needle for so long or so many projects??

I'd really love to hear what you have to say on this

Sock Monkey

Happy almost weekend!!

I finished the Sock Monkey ornament from the JCS 2010 issue

I knew when I seen it, I had to stitch it for my mom.

My hometown is Rockford, thats where the sock monkey was invented. My mom use to make the monkey out of the Rockford socks.

This year I have really sucked stitching Halloween, so here's another flashback, I believe from last year

There Was an Old Lady by Priairie Moon

I did get kinda festive for a potluck at work last night. This is what I made up for a healthy wise snack

Apple wedges cut to look like a monster mouth and slivered almonds for teeth. They were a hit.
You can also use caramel wrap cut to make a tongue or friut roll ups. I was in a hurry making them up and just couldn't figure out a way to make the tongue stick without falling out.

The couple in You and Me Sampler now have heads so they can kiss

I did change the house to a log cabin, a few people picked that out the last post and I forgot to mention it.

I started Houses of Hawk Run Hollow

I am going to take my sweet little time with this one versus Villages. I am going to savor it, lol

I don't like posting much anymore, either blogger changed or its my computer.

Dalton Stephen was born on Friday, August 13th at 8:10pm
weighing in at 6lbs. 14oz.

The nurse put the ink stamp off Dalton's feet on daddy's arm.
Yes! he has since washed it off

I am so far behind in blogging. I just don't have the desire to stitch, read or be on the computer much these days.

I was going to start Prairie Moon's "The Crypt Club" and notice it takes Belle Soie Silks. I tried the DMC floss toss and it's not anything like the silks. I don't want to make the investment on the silks right now, so it will go back in the draw. Darn it! I wish I would have seen that, oh well!!!
