First finish of the year

Happy snowy Thursday from northern Illinois
1st happy dance of 2010

"Evergreen" Blackbird Designs Loose Feathers #17

unknown fabric, I changed out a couple colors like pecan for palomino and evergreen for havanna.

No disrespect to Barb the designer, but the pink bird just didn't do it for me, so I ripped it out and used Soot.

Here is my Goode Huswife "Currants, Coxcomb and Rose scissor FOB. I am not real happy about the finishing, I think I could do better.

My mom is in the hospital now for a few days and will be there at least till tomorrow. She's had trouble breathing. So after umpteen test they now think it may be her lungs and not her heart.

I have a break for awhile today, it is snowing like crazy here. I am trying to catch up on laundry and cooking. I won't torture you with pics of my dirty laundry, hehe, here is what I am cooking up today

Big batch of chili Corned beef and cabbage about to be thrown in the crockpot.

o.k. so I am posting and taking pics of various things, trying to avoid putting other things off, lol

I have been stitching on My Betrothed Sampler. Thank Goodness!!!! It's a forgiving design because I am off one count and we all know sometimes that is not a good thing.

I better move on and make some good time here at home before my dad calls me to come pick him up at the hospital. He's 86 yrs old and we didn't want him driving in all the snow.

I'm surprised Kellie's school is open, lots are closed in the area.

I will leave you with a few pics I snapped from the window yesterday just before the big snow

They were sure munching on my plants, that's o.k. with me, they need food too.

Thanks for visiting my little part of the world

Until next...

Hi Ranae,

I like your floss substitution for Evergreen and will keep that in mind. I think it's very pretty. The fob is very nice and goes well with your scissors.

Yay on your starting My Betrothed again. It's a bigger stitch than it looks isn't it? As much as I'd thought I'd been done soon I think I have a long ways to go.

It looks very cozy at your house - with the stew going and snow outside. The deer look like PS deer! ;-)

Love your stitching and your custom-colored birdie. Your fob looks great. No finishing issues that I see.

I want some of that chili and I want to watch the deer frolic in the snow while I eat it. Although, I don't really want any snow to fall, so I'm just a mass of contradictions today!

Great stitching Ranae and I think that your finish is beautiful. That chili looks so good I can almost smell it over here.

We have deer come through our yard quite a bit during the year. One day someone was over and pointed out the deer statue in my neighbor's yard. Well, it wasn't a statue! LOL

I'm sending my thoughts for your mom and hoping that she feels better soon.

Your finish is beautiful! I like the black bird better. I think your fob looks great.

Loving the pics of the deer. We have a herd that comes to our yard and I was taking pics of them last weekend. They are beautiful creatures.

Love your Evergreen finish...so sweet! I also agree that pink is not the color for a birdie. Wonderful progress on My Betrothed too!

It seems very picturesque where you are between the snow and the beautiful deer!

Just beautiful, Ranae! I like your sooty colored bird, too.

Stop sending that snow our way...we are due to get another 6" by Saturday morning. The deer in your yard don't seem to be bothered by it, do they?

Stay warm :)

Love "Evergreen." It's very pretty.
I can't believe you get deer (those are deer, right?) that close! I've only ever seen them in the zoo. (Wow I sound like a city girl...)

Congratulations on your first finish this year. What we finish first in a new yera is always a special piece, just as the ones we start on January 1.
Sorry to hear that your mother is in hospital. I hope she will be on the mend very soon.
Love the deer pictures. We never have deer near here but I love watching the birds in my garden.

Ranae - congrats on your finish! It is a beautiful piece. Your little fob is just darling.

Oh, chili sounds wonderful -it's very cold here and I am clinging tightly to my mug of coffee. They threatend us with snow yesterday but we woke up to green grass this morning - so much for that 3-day weekend I was hoping for.

Love your new WIP - My Betrothed is a fabulous piece and I look forward to watching your progress on it.

Have a great weekend.

Beautiful stitching pics! And deer pics, too. I wish I could zap your food over to my kitchen here so I wouldn't have to come up with something for dinner tonight. ;) Congratulations on the finish!! It looks great.

A BIG HD for you :o) Lovely finish Ranae.

Love the pictures of the deer. I know we have some here but they don't come out during the day that often.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I hope it's nothing too serious.
