Finished BBD Stocking

Happy Hump Day!

I finished "Summer Roses" by Blackbird Designs in the Patriotic July booklet

For those who don't know, the little model is my grand daughter.
Does anyone use a sewing machine to sew their stockings? I did!
Do you think hand whip stitching would be easier for these??

I started something new and was hoping to get it finished this week, NOT!

"Patriotic Hornbook" by Dames of the Needle, found in the C-S & Needlework July 2010
The grass was over two and most rest of the design is over 1, not on this 35ct parchment linen. It has taken me a loooooooooooooong time to stitch the dog and the skirt. Maybe it will be done for display next year or maybe not at all, lol

P.S. I found my chart pack for Frederick. It was in my suitcase when I was packing for Arkansas. The key code was in Brianna's coloring books with a few others that I didn't miss, lol

It's my birthday weekend so hubby has a Harley rented for the weekend, FUN!!!!!

Happy 4th of July weekend

Have fun and be safe

Have a nice birthday! I love your stocking, it turned out great. I was planning to use the sewing machine for mine too - I did this with the Christmas one of theirs that was in the ornament issue a while back and it turned out just fine. For me, I think the whipstitched one done by hand would be harder to do, but that's JMO.

That stocking is adorable and modeled by the cutest little girl! Machine stitching is so much quicker and I like the look for these better than whip stitching myself.

I really like that Hornbook design. It's a good time of year to be stitching it even if you don't finish til some other July 4th!

Have a great holiday/birthday weekend!

Happy, Happy Birthday Ranae. I hope that you really have a wonderful birthday!

I just love your stocking and I would definitely sew it on the machine - hand sewing and I don't get along at all. I love your new start -DofN have some great charts.

And I have to smile at you finding Frederick's chart in your suitcase and the key code in the coloring books! Too funny!

Have a wonderful Birthday and a fun time on the Harley!

Your stocking is beautiful! I have only made one and finished it with the whip stitch. I think I'll finish the rest I stitch the same way, but if the sewing machine works for you I would stick with it.

Sounds like you're in for a fun weekend! Hope you have a very Happy Birthday!

Love your stocking and the model - just gorgeous. What a beautiful little girl she is!
That is a great hornbook design but over 1 on 35 count - I wouldn't tackle that under any circumstance. You are much braver than me.
Have a wonderful birthday weekend. Wishing you lots of love and laughter.

Your latest stocking looks great--I was wondering if it could be done on the sewing machine and you proved that it can! How cute is your granddaughter with those beautiful blue eyes!!

Hope your birthday is filled with lots of fun and surprises, Ranae!

Happy birthday! Your stocking turned out wonderful. I don't have a sewing machine, but I think it would give these a more finished look than whip stitching would. I love the hornbook piece- best wishes on the over one. :) Have a great holiday!

I love your stocking :)
I've done them both ways, machine and whip stitched and honestly I find the whip stitch faster and easier, because I can really get the curves to look "curvy" like theirs :) But that just me....I know plenty of people that do it machine and they look great! Just like yours :)

Have a super Birthday Ranae, I'll be thinking of you!

The stocking and the model are bot wonderful! The one and only stocking I did, I sewed by machine and thought that was fairly easy. Not sure about hand sewing them.
That is a great design your working on but oooh, over one on 35 count? Too small for me!
Have a fun birthday and be careful on the bike!

Very nice!! I've only whip stitched my BBD stockings.............but only because that was the way everyone else was doing it. I'm such a sheep. lol I have to think machine stitching is oh-so-much faster. You've inspired me to try it that way next batch I do up. :)

Have a great birthday~!!!

Hope you have a fabulous birthday! I love your finish, and the new start is just darling! I don't know how you are managing to see it. I really hate doing one over one on that small!

Have a brilliant birthday Ranae!

Love your stocking. I've finished the ones I've done by whipstitching but I find it really fiddly so will try it with my sewing machine next time.

Love your WIP.

Your granddaughter is a cutie patootie! I love the stocking. I have enjoyed reading the comments regarding hand vs machine finishing for them. I suppose I don't trust my machine skills for finishing though I'm sure if I tried it, they'd be fine. Hmm ...

Love the new WIP, too! I'm glad you found your chart and the missing key. Now, if you can find my missing Mary's Best Handworke chart anywhere... agh!! LOL

Have a fantastic birthday and a wonderful 4th!

I love that pattern by Dames...how did I miss that one? Going off to lookie see now! LOL :) Great start on it by they way...Happy Birthday! :)

Your stocking looks wonderful, very pretty. Most finishing I do by hand as it seems to much work to haul my machine out and then remember how to work it. Since most of my projects are small, it doesn't take a whole lot of time anyway. So glad you found the missing chart pack for Frederick.

Happy Birthday! Your granddaughter is beautiful and cute! Love the stocking. Great progress on your new start. :) Sorry that I couldn't comment on all your posts these few weeks, I was overwhelmed with jobs and party, I haven't had time to read and comment too much. I hope to catch up soon. Cheers!

Hope your birthday is grand! Love the model - and the stocking isn't bad either...I have not done those stockings yet, but I find that hand sewing is easier for me sometimes because I am more comfortable with in-hand. I would think either will be fine, but would come out the best however you're more comfortable.

Gorgeous little stocking modelled by a gorgeous little lady.

I usually handstitch the smalls, by the time i set up the machine i've wasted too much time

Have fun on the bike!
