I like the band of fabric ~ perhaps it is the dots that are distracting ~ do you have any plain black fabric?
I personally like the polka dots, but what do I know! :o)
I am a quilter as well as a needleworker so I love fabric. The black fabric with the orange dots adds a special pop of color and, to me, doesn't take away from the tombstones at all, rather draws my eyes up to the top!
I vote for #2....that's great bellpull hardware!
Personally I prefer no 2 , but you could always use plain black if you want something else at the top , but without too much distraction.X

I keep going back and forth. I like both styles. That's no help, so I guess I'll vote for 2, but without seeing the whole thing, it's hard to make up my mind.

#2! I don't think the fabric looks blah at all. But I do agree with Catherine who suggested plain black fabric...maybe that would make the fabric less blah to you but still not take away from the tombstones?

I agree with Annonymous, the fabric at the top brings the eye up to that fabulous bell pull. I love it, all of it :-)

My vote is for number 2! However, a black kind of spooky fabric would be nice without distracting.
I like the first. I think the fabric adds to it, rather than takes away.

You really can't go wrong with either one. This is such a great piece! If it were me, I would go with #1, just because that fabric is such a great match!
