Demolition 101

Happy Monday! or is it?

We started this major overhall on Thursday. While it is exciting to get a brand new kitchen, it is however very stressful and emotional. This is the first time we have did a remodeling job. And it will be the last, lol.
Everyone said my kitchen was just fine, but now I wish I would have left it as is and just replaced the floor and something small. Too late now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gosh! The wallpaper was terrible and there was so much. You can see in the photo the red steamer I rented. On the right the paper has been taken off the wall, paper on the left side is still up.

The tile was fun to destroy and the cabinets are being taken, so no fun there, lol

There is a soffit on the top in the middle of the kitchen. There were cabinets with an island. The soffet is coming down, so it will be more open. There will be a replacement island. Dummy me! forgot all about taking a before photo. This is all I got from now on.

I have a ton of blogs and emails to read, so If I am slow at responding you know why. Our job is almost all over, hooray! Then it will be up to all the contractors to do their part. My whole house is a total mess, I mean every room and that is very unsettling to me. I never knew that so much could fit in those cupboards, lol. Stuff I have never even used since we moved in 11 years ago. It's all going bye! bye!

We have lots of shopping to do for a stove, over the stove microwave, refrigerator, sink and faucets, and flooring. So It might be awhile before ya hear from me.

On the stitching front I did finish this last week

"By the Light of the Moon" a freebie by The Primitive Needle

I was hoping to finish, finish it before this weekend. My sewing machine is put away for a little while.

Well I better go see what else I can demolish, lol beside my insanity

Take care!!

How fun! We have an old house (1895) and the last room to do is our kitchen! it's been the last room for 4 years now :-)

I can't wait to see your progress!

That sounds like a very big undertaking! Good luck with it Ranae! I hope it goes quickly and as effortlessly as possible!

What a great freebie. We've been talking Halloween costumes around here lately. So far it sounds like DS wants to be Buzz Lightyear. And I have my heart set on Minnie Mouse for the little miss.

Sounds like a big project, Ranae. Heed the sign on your sidebar, and have some chocolate! All kidding aside, I'm sure you'll be very happy when it's finished to your liking. We never could quite get ourselves motivated to do our kitchen, so good job!

I remember when DH and I re-did our kitchen in 2001. At the time I was beginning to wonder if it would be worth all the mess and arguing, but it can out so beautiful. Just take a deep breath (and hopefully it won't be the dusty air from the kitchen renovation!)

Whew!! That is quite a project!! Our kitchen is on the "to do" list, but we have had a {small} bathroom torn apart for quite a while now. Will need to finish that first :)

I can't believe you managed to fit stitching in while you were in the midst of this. You will be so happy with a new kitchen. The memories of this work will all fade away and you'll just enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Been there, done that! Plus, helped my parents do it too. Messy job, but will be sooooo worth it when it's done. Psst... I need my kitchen re-done (hint, hint). LOL

Oh boy! You sure do have your hands full. LOL! Just take things one step at a time or else you'll feel overwhelmed.

Cute finish! I can't believe with everything that's going on, you still have time to put a finish out ;o) LOL!

Eek! I can relate to the angst. I love the idea of new stuff and fixing things up but it really is unsettling when stuff is so up in the air. I can't wait to see pics as you progress with it. I want a new kitchen so badly but being self employed during a recession means not doing anything too big because you never know what's coming around the corner. :P

Love the finish! YGG!

We remodeled our back porch last year turning it into a family room. It took much longer than expected but in the end it turned out more beautiful than I could have hoped. Every morning I sit in there with my tea and can't believe it's mine! Hang in there, it will be worth it when you have a beautiful new kitchen.

Oh my goodness girl. That is insane.
No wonder you want to run away. Come ahead - the door is open and the tea is on.

Oh Ranae--I feel your pain with the kitchen remodeling! We remodeled our entire house in 1996 (living in it throughout!). My low point came one morning when I wearily sat in our "now open to the world" den and watched as a family of mice sauntered through. But it was all worth it in the end. Wishing you much luck (and patience!)...

Oh my goodness do I feel your pain with the renovation - especially the kitchen. It's a lot of work, and a lot of stress, but I know that you'll be thrilled with the outcome!!

Myra said...

I feel your pain. When we moved into this house a year ago, we had to redo almost everything in it. The mess nearly drove me nuts.

Loving the Primitive Needle piece!

Oh wow, Ranae, I can only imagine by the pics, how your life is turned upside down. But just think how wonderful it will be to have a new kitchen. And I can't wait to see it, so be sure and take lots of pics when done!!

Love your little PM finish!

Will definitely be thinking about you with all of this renovation going on!
